Dayne Austin, CAIA – Director of Alternative Investments
Dayne Austin is the Director of Alternative Investments at Alpha Strategies where he is responsible for managing the firm’s internal sales & marketing operations as well as developing new and managing existing relationships with institutional investors, family offices, registered investment advisors, and fund managers.
Dayne has spent nearly eight years in the Capital Markets industry with a primary focus on alternative investment strategies including real estate, private equity, credit derivatives, managed futures, and hedge funds. His comprehensive understanding of strategic asset allocation and the benefits of incorporating alternative asset classes into traditional equity and fixed-income portfolios has helped him cultivate a reliable, results-defining professional reputation. His ability to develop cohesive cross-team synergies that integrate sales and marketing with technical analytics have proven to increase organizational efficiency, stimulate growth, and has be a key to helping him raise over $500 million in AUM.
Dayne earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Finance from the University of Colorado in 2005. He currently holds the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation and maintains FINRA series 7 and 66 securities registrations.
Mark Hanley – Managing Director
Mark Hanley is an institutional investment professional with over 25 years’ experience across a broad spectrum of roles, asset classes, strategies and vehicles. He has served in portfolio management, strategy design, marketing, investor relations, and senior management. His experience in alternative investments dates back to 1998 where he was a managing director at Weiss, Peck & Greer LLC and chaired the structured products group and his responsibilities included global and U.S financial institutions, pacific rim countries, and institutional investors in the western US. He then served as a partner at Capital Z, investments and sat on the investment committee responsible for seeding managers. He helped build their asset base from inception, within multiple strategies, and served on the board of directors of several alternative investment firms.
Mark’s alternatives expertise includes working with hedge funds, funds of funds, private placements, venture capital, private equity and structured/insurance linked products. His clients have included the largest pension funds in the world, sovereign nations, corporate and public pension funds, endowments & foundations, financial institutions, intermediaries, family offices and ultra-high net worth individuals. He has been a featured speaker at several investor and financial industry conferences around the globe on various alternative investment strategies. In September 2008 he served as consultant to key senators on the banking and finance committee during the credit crisis./
Raised in southern California, Mark attended Laguna Beach high school and the University of California, Los Angeles where he majored in economics and holds the FINRA Series 65 license. He currently resides in Newport Beach, but his career has taken him to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Oregon and New York. He is a member of several hedge fund professional organizations, served on PTA committees and is accredited with both the American Youth Soccer Organization and the National Youth Sports Coaches Association.
Andrew Kovach – Vice President
Andrew has over 20 years of experience as an investment professional and currently provides business development and capital introduction services to single manager alternative investment firms.
Andrew has worked and lived in both the U.S and Europe and has had an opportunity to develop relationships with a broad range of institutional clientele. He spent 12 years as a Vice President and Institutional Salesperson for A.G. Edwards & Sons where he played an integral role in the development of their European equity sales department and was responsible for Italy, France, Monaco and Lugano. This department eventually became part of Wells Fargo Capital Markets. Prior to A.G. Edwards, he was based in Paris, France for six years and worked with several U.S. boutique Investment Banks, helping each launch a Paris based satellite office and raise capital for U.S. public companies through Reg. S convertible bonds to European Institutions. Andrew attended Bernard Baruch College for a Bachelor of Business Administration with a minor in finance and maintains FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations.
Randy R. Mariman – Senior Managing Director - Institutional Sales
Mr. Mariman began his career as an investment consultant on the retail side with such firms as Merrill Lynch, Smith Barney, and Raymond James & Associates. He then joined Prime Asset Management as a Partner where he became an NFLPA Agent, negotiating contracts with the NFL Players Association and helping athletes with tax and financial planning.
He then joined Advanced Investment Technology as Director of Sales. Responsibilities included raising assets through retail and institutional channels. Creating a business strategy, marketing materials, and presentations designed to illustrate complicated non-linear quantitative artificial intelligence based portfolio strategies. While at AIT a strategic alliance was formed with State Street Global Advisors allowing the firm to design and manage quantitative management strategies for institutional clients around the world.
Randy later created Concentric Capital Partners, a marketing and consulting firm to serve retail and institutional money managers, private equity firms, and corporate entities. Concentric was designed to raise assets, open distribution channels in both institutional and retail areas, conduct both strategic and tactical marketing assessments, and provide presentation coaching and sales training.
Mr. Mariman has been retained to work with dozens of firms, including SSGA, ING, and Home Depot. Mr. Mariman has worked with several charities and served on non-profit boards, primarily focusing in the areas of underprivileged and at risk youth and families.
Mr. Mariman holds a BBA from the University of Iowa.
Matthew Daugherty – Managing Director
Matt Daugherty is a Managing Director at Alpha Strategies where he is responsible for relationships with institutional investors, family offices, and fund managers.
Matt has over 10 years of experience working in the investment management and securities fields where he has worked with institutional investors and fund managers. Matt started his career with Janus Funds and then became a Senior Financial Research Analyst with Standard’s and Poor’s in the investment services division. He then became a fund analyst with Oppenheimer Funds specializing in fixed income securities.
In 2007 Matt became an associate at R Capital Advisors where he developed a network of institutional investors for private placements. Subsequently he worked for both Continental Investors Services and First Southwest Company where he developed fixed income sales and trading relationships with broker/dealers and RIA’s.
Matt earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He maintains FINRA Series 7, 63 and 65 securities registrations.
